Auto dealer introduces new, ground-breaking, on-highway heavy truck

Brook Park, Ohio – Valley Freightliner, Sterling & Western Star Trucks of Cleveland introduced the new, Freightliner Cascadia to the business community at its 2007 Customer Appreciation Open House last week at the dealership.

The Cascadia – optimized for fuel efficiency, cab comfort and drivability – is a revolutionary new Class 8 truck for on-highway applications. Built from an entirely new platform, it delivers significant fuel savings and is designed to be the most productive, efficient, and drivable truck on the market.

The Cascadia was designed to easily accept EPA ’07 emission engines. Its expandable electronic platform can easily accommodate the technology. Plus, the Cascadia was built to be paired with the all-new global Heavy-Duty Engine Platform, the first of which will debut later this year under the Detroit Diesel engine brand.

“With the introduction of the new Cascadia truck, Valley Trucks continues to demonstrate an innovative spirit that will keep them strong in business for many years,” said Mark J. Elliott, mayor of Brook Park.

“We look forward to the continued success of Valley and our other dealerships in the community," he added.

Brook Park currently has four truck dealerships and will soon add an eighth car dealership, Elliott said.  “In addition to providing more than 450 jobs, these dealerships bring tremendous value to Brook Park because of the exposure and traffic that they generate for our community,” he added.

Later that evening, the dealership welcomed more than 100 members of the Ohio Fleet Maintenance Council of Northeast Ohio for dinner, learn about new Cascadia, and listen to a lineup of speakers who commented on trucking trends, emerging technologies and improving fuel economy.

“The heavy truck business is a smaller network of dealers and suppliers,” said John Drakesmith, the dealership’s president. “That is why we support our colleagues who work in the heavy truck parts and maintenance industry.”

The Cascadia was also designed to maximize payload. The aluminum cab boasts a significant weight savings over steel, and the hood, bumper and quarter fenders are lighter than comparable models. All of these improvements enable operators to haul more freight.

Valley Freightliner, Sterling, & Western Star Trucks of Cleveland, located at 4985 W. 150th. St. in Brook Park, is centrally located on five acres directly beneath I-480.
